How the Ballot Signal + WordPress integration works
This is an install target, not a destination. The Ballot Signal plugin injects the consent-aware script and registers as a consenting plugin against the WP Consent API, reading the standard categories — functional, statistics-anonymous, statistics, preferences and marketing. The script stays completely inert unless the visitor's marketing (and, if you require it, statistics) category reads 'allow'. Page-intent signals such as donate, volunteer and issue-page views are reported against the consented visitor only.

How to set it up

Install and activate the Ballot Signal plugin from the WordPress plugin directory.

Paste your site key into the plugin settings.

Confirm a WP Consent API-compatible consent plugin is active — Complianz and several others implement it.

Choose which consent categories are required. Marketing is the default; statistics can be added.

Open your site in a private window, decline consent, and confirm in the network tab that nothing fires.

Accept consent and confirm the script loads and a test signal appears in your Ballot Signal dashboard.

What authentication does the WordPress integration use?
n/a (plugin). Credentials are stored encrypted and are never rendered back into the interface after entry.
Will this create duplicate records in WordPress?
No, assuming you leave deduplication on. We match on the lowercased-email hash first, then phone, then name plus address. On a match we update rather than create, and only the fields you have marked overwritable.
Does the consent record travel into WordPress?
Yes. Consent timestamp, consent version, consent source URL and granted categories are included in every push, by default, and there is no configuration that strips them. That is the point of the product.
